Chimney Lining services to suit you

Professional Chimney Lining Company

Lining a chimney is strongly recommended by both GasSafe and HETAS for all installations, especially for the older property and for all solid fuel stove installations.

In addition, current regulations state that all chimney flues of 12 metres or more in height must be lined before any new gas or solid fuel appliances are installed.

If you decide to go ahead, we can then supply the stove, all the flue materials needed and plans for the installation.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. We could also provide you with pricing via a quote within 3 working days.

Common Issues That Chimney Liners May Have

Common issues for chimney lining or liners may include:

  • Corrosion – corrosion occurs naturally over time and may require repair or replacement should this occur. Corrosion occurs from acidic gases that damage the chimney liner, and galvanic corrosion occurs from reactions from the chimney lining that consist of multiple metals. Crevice corrosion can also occur due to moisture damage.

  • Heat can naturally cause damage over time despite chimney liners being designed to withstand these conditions. After 15 to 20 years, expect that you will need to replace or repair your chimney liner.

  • Structural damage – this can occur again over time due to a range of issues and extended use.

It’s highly recommended that you carry out regular inspections of your chimney lining and arrange for professionals to review your liner every year. We are able to carry out inspections for you where we can assess the condition of your chimney liner and repair or replace the system should this be required.

Common Issues That Flue Liners May Have

Flue liners also suffer from corrosion due to acidic byproducts that are generated when your fireplace is in operation. Incorrect construction is also a large factor into why a flue liner may not be working correctly. We can assess the original installation of a flue liner and then carry out upgrades or repairs where required. There isn’t really a way for you to know if your flue liner is damaged – this is why it’s important to arrange for regular inspections, at least once a year.

Should flue liner repair be required, this typically consists of a stainless steel liner being installed to repair the flue liner. This is the most cost-effective approach but in some cases, an entire repair may be necessary. We will advise you during the inspection of your flue liner and assess the condition of your current liner. If your liner requires repair or a complete reconstruction, we can advise you on this during your free quote.

Chimney flue liners are a protective barrier that allows the chimney to expel and contain combustion gasses safely outside of the home. This protective lining also protects the chimney from fires as well as from moisture damage and is a key part of the chimney.

Depending on the installation, materials used, and the amount of maintenance carried out – your flue liner can last for 15 to 20 years. In some cases, maintenance becomes difficult or your flue liner becomes less efficient over time due to corrosion. Gaps in the chimney and professional inspections can identify that your flue liner is due for replacement.

We recommend that your flue/chimney liner is inspected once a year. It’s very difficult to assess chimney conditions from a visual inspection, so it’s important that you arrange for professional surveys and maintenance of your chimney lining.
